Adhesive Bonding Systems cc trading as GLUTEK was started by Sean and Anthea Cronin in 1996. The business has been trading in Strijdom Park, Randburg for the last 18 years.
The name GLUTEK relates to products previously manufactured for Hot-Melt glue equipment. We still manufacture some of these components today, but have expanded into many other industries. These include architecture, high performance automotive, and aviation.
We have a sister company in Natal, namely “GLUTEK Natal” run by Mr Alan Baker. He has continued in the supply and maintenance of Hot-Melt glue machinery and spares, and is very active in the industries requiring this type of packaging.
Our transition to CNC machining began in 1999. This was when we purchased our first CNC mill, followed closely by a CNC lathe. The move into small and medium production had begun, as we now have eight CNC machines on the floor, although we still assist customers with ‘one off’ requirements, and prototyping. We have a staff compliment of fourteen.
Our workshop is neat, clean and modern.
We have four CNC turning centers, four CNC machine centers, three conventional lathes, two automatic cut off saws and an eccentric press. Various other small machines compliment these, to make us a fully functional engineering facility.
We are focused on small and medium production ie. 10 up to 2000 components.
Type of Work Includes
Accurate Turning of components such as bushes, pins, and shafts.
Machine centers cater for moulds up to 1.2m.
Finishing of out-sourced aluminum castings, and similar products.
We undertake sheet metal components that would form part of a complete product.
Keyway cutting, and manufacture of small punching tools.
We work mainly with aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, brass, copper and bronze, but have the capacity to handle special tool steels, titanium, and the more exotic stainless steels.
We have many years’ experience in the machining of engineering plastics, including acytal and nylon.
We are able to offer a complete product, wrapped, packed, and plated, if required.
Zinc silver, yellow or black is available for steel parts, and aluminum can be anodized in various colours, although this is not done in-house.
Glutek manufactured the stainless steel tendons in the new section of Oliver Tambo International Airport, the tendons for the sliding roof structure at Clearwater Mall, and the rotating parts of the enormous entrance doors of Greenstone Mall.
Various specialized trophies, in particular for the 2006 cricket test series between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and the 2015 Standard Bank Premier Soccer League.
Glutek Natal was formed in 2000 and is run by Mr Alan Baker.
At our Natal branch we concentrate more on the packaging industry.
We service and supply various parts including nozzles modules and filters for all major makes of machines currently in use.
